jane-friendmanJane Friedman has more than 15 years of experience in the publishing industry, with expertise in digital media strategy for authors. From 2001–2010 she worked at Writer’s Digest, where she ultimately became publisher and editorial director. Most recently, she served as the digital editor for the Virginia Quarterly Review, where she led a strategic overhaul of its website and the launch of digital subscriptions.

Since 2001, she has spoken at hundreds of writing conferences around the world. She recently delivered keynotes at The Muse & The Marketplace, the University of Wisconsin Writers’ Institute, and PubSmart. She’s also spoken at international gatherings such as SXSW, BookExpo America, Digital Book World, Frankfurt Book Fair, and AWP.

Her essays have been published in collections by the University of Chicago Press, Seal Press, Milkweed Editions, and McPherson & Co. She teaches online writing and publishing at University of Virginia, and her blog for writers at JaneFriedman.com enjoys more than 100,000 visits every month.
