Karina Vahitova (Founder, VP of the Void Academy) is an artist, writer, designer, and community builder originally from Kiev, Ukraine. She has previously worked with Opportunity Project (developing programs), Studio Formichetti (assisting Lady Gaga’s creative director), and Bullett Magazine (working on e-commerce). Karina is most passionate about community building for social justice causes. In 2012, she curated and helped create “Postcards Post-Sandy,” a digital memory site recording the effects of Superstorm Sandy. Before founding The Void Academy, she lead and managed the research and archive project at Marina Abramovic Institute. Karina has acted as a liaison to a broad network of international emerging and established collaborators within the arts and sciences. She has extensive experience with social media, brand building, and communication design. Karina is currently finishing the BA/BFA/MA program at The New School studying socially engaged visual art history, biology, and design.
